Your team is already in Slack. Start there.

Bring names, work emails, and job titles into Broccoli, your employee operations workspace. Review your people before continuing company setup.

Directory access only. Broccoli does not read conversations, send messages, or invite your team when you connect Slack.

Connect from your Broccoli workspace

You need an existing Broccoli workspace and permission to manage data imports. The steps are the same for managed and self-hosted workspaces. Slack may also require approval from your Slack workspace administrator.

  1. Open your company's Broccoli workspace. Sign in as an administrator and open the people import step in company setup. Its address ends in /onboarding/import.
  2. Choose Connect Slack. Select the Slack workspace whose directory you want to import and approve access to member profiles and email addresses.
  3. Return to Broccoli. The import page shows Connected with your Slack workspace name. Choose Next: review your people to read the directory.
  4. Review the saved people. Check the names, work emails, and job titles. This step saves a directory for review; it does not create employee accounts or send invitations.

Before you approve

Broccoli requests users:read and users:read.email for directory import. Bot accounts, deactivated accounts, guests, and people without a valid email address are excluded from the saved list. Read the Slack privacy policy for details on storage, retention, and deletion.

Need help connecting?

If Connect Slack is unavailable on a managed workspace, contact Broccoli support. On a self-hosted workspace, ask the owner to check Slack in service setup or Settings → Integrations. If Slack requests administrator approval, ask your Slack administrator to approve the installation.

Self-hosted owners can use their own Slack app instead of the Broccoli Slack app. Choose it in service setup or Settings → Integrations and follow the included manifest. Slack access then stays between your installation and Slack.

For an expired or cancelled connection request, return to your Broccoli workspace and choose Connect Slack again. For help, email hello@getbroccoli.com. Include the workspace address and error message, but no passwords or access tokens.

Disconnect whenever you need

Choose Disconnect on the people import page to stop further reads through that connection. Previously imported people remain saved. See our privacy policy to request access, export, or deletion of that data.
